ASME Executive Director Thomas G. Loughlin. ASME Executive Director Thomas G. Loughlin. ASME ED Tom Loughlin to Step Down in 2018May 5, 2017 ASME Executive Director Thomas G. Loughlin today announced his plans to step down by the end of ASMEs 2017-2018 fiscal year, and ASMEs President, K. Keith Roe, announced that a Search Committee will be formed in the immediate future to identify Mr. Loughlins successor. The selection and announcement of a new Executive Director are expected to occur in the spring of 2018.Tom has been ur Executive Director since 2008 and has been a dedicated employee of ASME for almost 25 years, Roe said. Under Toms leadership, ASME has progressed on many fronts and, most recently, developed an enterprise strategy that the mainboard believes will ensure ASMEs long-term vitality and its continued place at the forefront of the worlds engineering Societies. The Board is committed to the strategy work that has been done thus far and is grateful for Toms leadershi p in bringing us to this point. We as Governors look forward to having the benefit of Toms knowledge and experience as we move through this time of transition, and we also appreciate the support of our thousands of members as we move forward with our exciting strategy for the future, Roe said. ASME President-elect Charla Wise said, The volunteers and staff at ASME have been hard at work on the development of an Integrated Operating Plan, which translates the strategy into the operation, and is planned to be in place at the start of my term. I am committed to the successful implementation of the Integrated Operating Plan, and I am looking forward to leading the organization at this exciting time. This is an exciting time in the history of ASME, and I am proud of what we have achieved and the work we are doing, Loughlin said. I look forward to working with the Board of Governors, our other volunteer leaders, and our superb staff during this transition period as we continue our work on the strategy and lay a solid, strategic foundation for the next Executive Director to build on.
